The Refurbishment of Hardwick Campus, Cheltenham, University of Gloucestershire
The project comprised the complete demolition of a redundant swimming pool and the construction of an extension to the existing car parking facilities on its footprint.
The existing sports hall and gymnasium were completely refurbished to create a new arts and photographic facility, including processing rooms, dark rooms, camera stores, offices and art workshops. A new extension creating an inviting entrance housing a café was also constructed.
This project was part of a three-phase scheme, the combined effect of the three projects totalling £3.5m has allowed the University to consolidate accommodation and therefore reduce the universities annual operating cost whilst achieving significant carbon reduction savings.
